Unfolding

"Unfolding," is a triptych created with acrylic paint on 16x20-inch wood panels. It features objects of personal significance to me, my mother, and my grandmother, arranged together to tell a story about three generations of women. My goal was to reflect on the connections I share with my mother and grandmother. I dedicate this project to them and the women artists who have come before me.

The purpose of this project was to explore the works of historical female still life painters, their processes, and their motivations. I specifically focused on Irish female still life painters, who depicted objects ranging from household items to family heirlooms. By analyzing their methods and incorporating my own treasured objects, I sought to deepen my connection with my mother and grandmother.

I hope viewers can feel the warmth and love I experienced while working with these objects. I want them to appreciate the memories and emotions that each item carries, and to recognize that even the simplest objects can have profound meaning and stories behind them.
